Uzbekistan will allocate $500 million to increase gas imports from Russia

  1. The country's authorities will spend $500 million to modernize Uzbekistan's main gas system to increase gas imports from Russia. It is planned to increase the supply from 9 to 32 mln m3 of gas per day. The project is planned to be financed through foreign debts. It is also planned to continue the implementation of the program to modernize and increase the efficiency of the main gas transmission system of Uzbekistan (2021–2024). The project, worth $483 million, meant for the modernization of 511 km of main gas pipelines and 10 gas pumping units. The loan amount of $50.1 million remain unused as of January 1st, 2024.
