Since the beginning of 2024, the gas sector of Uzbekistan has been experiencing an unprecedented boom, demonstrating a sharp increase in gas imports and exports.
Gas imports to Uzbekistan in the first six months of this year exceeded $809 million, which is four times more than in the same period of 2023, when the volume of supplies amounted to $200 million. This growth also exceeds the entire volume of gas imports in 2023, which amounted to $694.9 million. Foreign trade data from the Statistical Agency under the President of Uzbekistan show that in January 2024, gas imports amounted to $35.6 million, in February - $131.1 million, in March - $193.5 million, in April - $102.6 million, in May - $180.4 million, in June - $166.3 million.
